Mammoplasty  

Mammoplasty refers to cosmetic breast surgery aimed at either reducing or enlarging the breasts to achieve the desired size.
Breast reduction surgery can reduce breast size, correct sagging, and create a breast shape that is proportionate to the rest of the body.

 Pre-operative Measures

  • Individuals with excess weight should lose weight before mammoplasty, as this will also reduce breast size.
  • Refrain from smoking and alcohol consumption for one month prior to the surgery.
  • Take a shower the night before the surgery.
  • Do not eat for 12 hours before the mammoplasty.
  • Discontinue the use of medications such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and vitamin E.
  • With the consultation and prescription of a specialist, obtain a special support garment.

 It is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes 2–3 hours depending on the patient's condition.
The surgeon determines the incision pattern and technique based on the necessary changes. Excess tissue and skin are removed, and the breast shape and size are refined. In many cases, nipple repositioning is required for symmetry.

  • In the first week after surgery, the individual must regularly disinfect the wound site and continuously change the dressing to prevent infection.
  • Avoid heavy activities for about two months after the mammoplasty.
  • If all post-operative care instructions are followed as per the physician's guidelines,. If all post-operative care instructions are followed, optimal results are typically seen in about six months.
